The Minister of Water visits the Aqaba Water Company and emphasizes the sustainability of services and infrastructure development.

The Minister of Water and Irrigation, Engineer Raed Abu Saud, conducted an inspection visit to the Aqaba Water Company to review the company's operational and administrative status and to monitor the progress of water supply operations to the Aqaba Governorate and the southern governorates, as part of ongoing efforts to improve the performance of the water sector and enhance service efficiency in the southern regions.

During the visit, the Minister met with the Director General of the Aqaba Water Company, Engineer Wael Al-Duwairi, where the most prominent operational challenges were reviewed, and the future plans implemented by the company to ensure the continuity of supply and improve the quality of services were discussed.

The minister stressed the need to ensure the sustainability of water services within the specified timeframes, in accordance with the available capabilities and in a way that meets the needs of citizens, emphasizing the importance of developing and rehabilitating water sources, and reducing the percentage of technical and administrative losses from the networks, through the use of modern technologies and enhancing the efficiency of maintenance and operation teams.

He also instructed those concerned to prepare the necessary technical studies to expand sanitation services in the southern beach area, with the aim of approaching donors to secure the necessary funding, noting that developing sanitation services is a priority within the ministry’s plan to improve the environmental and service situation in Aqaba.

The minister also praised the constructive cooperation and coordination with the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority and all official bodies in the governorate, for its positive impact on developing the service and raising the level of operational efficiency, which reflects on improving the water situation and serving citizens in the best possible way.

For his part, the Director General of Aqaba Water Company, Engineer Wael Al-Duwairi, welcomed the Minister’s visit, considering it a confirmation of the Ministry’s keenness to support its affiliated companies and follow up on their work directly, stressing that the company continues to work with high efficiency to meet the increasing demand, especially during the summer season, despite the technical challenges and limited resources.

Al-Duwairi pointed out that the Aqaba Water Company relies in its management on operational and strategic plans aimed at reducing losses, raising the efficiency of the water system, and developing sanitation services, stressing that continuous coordination with the Ministry of Water and the Water Authority constitutes a fundamental pillar in implementing priority programs and projects in the governorate.
