The parliamentary administrative committee reviews the administrative and service situation at the Aqaba Water Company.

The Chairman of the Administrative Committee in the House of Representatives, MP and lawyer Muhammad Salama Al-Ghuwairi, stressed the importance of supporting institutional efforts aimed at improving the work environment in the water sector and promoting job fairness, which contributes to raising performance efficiency and achieving institutional stability.
This came during the visit of the Parliamentary Administrative Committee, on Wednesday, to the Aqaba Water Company, where it met with the company’s general manager, Engineer Wael Al-Duwairi, in the presence of a number of committee members and a number of company officials, as part of a field tour aimed at learning about the administrative and service situation, and discussing the most prominent challenges facing the company.
On the administrative side, the committee discussed a number of files related to human resources, most notably the conditions of service purchase employees, calling for a study of the possibility of appointing them to permanent positions according to the organizational chart, in order to achieve job stability and allow them to benefit from job privileges, especially health insurance for workers in hazardous field locations.
The meeting also reviewed the administrative procedures followed within the company, where the attendees confirmed that these procedures are carried out according to professional and transparent standards, ensuring fairness and equal opportunities among competitors, and enshrining the approach of corporate governance.
The committee members, MPs Abdul Basit Al-Kabariti, Ahmed Alimat, Ibrahim Al-Sarairah, Ferial Bani Salman, and Habes Al-Fayez, stressed the need to enhance transparency in human resources management and achieve a balance between efficiency and fairness, in order to create a stimulating work environment and improve the quality of services provided to citizens.
For his part, the company’s general manager, Engineer Al-Duwairi, affirmed that the company’s management deals with all proposals and recommendations issued by the concerned authorities, including the House of Representatives, with complete transparency, to rectify the conditions of workers with temporary contracts or temporary services, noting the company’s commitment to high professionalism and fairness in all its administrative procedures.
Al-Duwairi reviewed the reality of water supply in Aqaba Governorate, pointing to the increasing challenges resulting from the high demand and the diversity and increase of consuming sectors, stressing that the company is working at full capacity to maintain the continuity of supply, despite the pressures facing the infrastructure.
He called for concerted national and community efforts, especially with regard to rationalizing consumption, increasing storage capacity for domestic uses, and modifying some practices that lead to water waste, stressing the importance of raising public awareness of the nature of the water situation in Jordan, and the need to deal with it in a manner appropriate to the critical nature of the stage.
He pointed to the company's future plans aimed at improving the supply system by establishing a backup pipeline from the Disi area to Aqaba, in addition to establishing new collection tanks, which will contribute to reducing the impact of sudden outages from the source, and support the continuity of service provision to all subscribers.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Chairman of the Committee stressed that public affairs are a shared national responsibility, calling for improving the work environment for workers in the sector, in order to enhance stability and productivity, raise the standard of living for workers, and enshrine the principles of institutional justice.
